Projects
The Southeast Aquaculture Communications Collaborative works with Sea Grant programs, researchers, and industry partners throughout the region to develop new resources and programs to increase aquaculture literacy and promote locally grown seafood across the region. Check out our projects below.
Support Southern Seafood Toolkit
The “Support Southern Seafood” toolkit is a pilot outreach program that empowers educators to engage consumers about local seafood through a simple guide and interactive pledge cards. It delivers science-based information and addresses common misconceptions while building confidence in purchasing and preparing seafood, encouraging informed choices that support domestic aquaculture and fisheries across the Southeast. The SACC is currently collaborating with UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant to pilot test the program at local farmer's markets through their summer internship program.

SoutheastAquaculture.org
Our website was developed to amplify pre-existing resources about aquaculture for lay audiences in the Southeast region to increase their reach and impact. Many resources have been developed with the support of grants or other limited term funding, which do not typically provide resources for long-term promotion. The goal of our website is to identify these "hidden gems", curate, and translate science-based resources to make them more accessible to a wider audience.
